Theme of the book:  Financial Literacy & Investing - From a women's perspective.

The book: Rich Woman - A book on Investing for Women by Kim Kiyosaki

Located:  I picked up the book at the Public Library, the Eiseley Branch more specifically. However it can be found on amazon below:

Description:  The book is written around some conversations and meetings Kim Kiyosaki had with some of her college gal pals. It discusses their life situations and how they got started on their journey to become financially free.

My thoughts:  It was a good book because it gave more of a personal experience perspective. It was not full of jargon and things you wouldn't understand not knowing anything about investing. In fact in the end of the book there is a short investing dictionary for words that you may come across while learning about investing.

What I liked about it was it gave a reason for the why to start investing. Now please bare in mind I did not fact check the facts she listed but a few of them are as follows:

In the first year after a divorce a woman's standard of living drops an average of 73%. Of the elderly living in poverty 3 out of 4 are women - 80% of them were not poor when their husbands were alive. Nearly 7 out of 10 women will at some time live in poverty.

The version of the book I was reading was copyrighted in 2006 so I am sure some of these stats have changed. At least these give you a general idea that typically a woman is not as set in terms of financial stability.

Another thing I thought was beneficial is that Kim Kiyosaki is an expert but her friends had never even considered investing; this made the book very relatable and less intimidating. It also went beyond just real estate investing and listed all kinds of investments available for people to try.

Recommend?  I would recommend this book to anyone because it is an easy read that gets you thinking. It also has some exercises that you can do to see how stable you actually are when it comes to your financials. It is eye opening and inspires you to learn more about something that may have interested you in the reading.

Critique:  The book did not do a lot for information on investing, it was more inspirational. Also a couple of times during the book I felt like it would jump from one investing topic back to the girls talk. However Kim did a good job of tying them in together and didn't give too much personal detail on things. I tried to look up a follow up to the people involved in the book and was not able to find anything.

Overall I would give this book a 3 Star review! I recommend it for woman wanting to take control of their financial situation. I would be curious to hear a man's perspective on the book because it doesn't bash men, it does however exemplify what women can use to their advantage, and how to get the men in their life involved.⭐⭐⭐

🙏 Thank you for reading! Is this a book you have read? Would you consider reading it based on my review? Calling all Men - if you have read it what are your thoughts? 📖
